Chet Baker Tribute – Daniel Lapp Quartet

4th Cat Nap Music Camp

Monday, July 3 – Thursday, July 6

We’re excited to announce the launch of our 4th Cat Nap Music Camp. The camp has been extended by an extra day this year and we’ll be joined by two-time BC fiddle champion Michael Burnyeat!

Pack your instruments and swimsuit for 4 days of musical fun and outdoor activities with friends and family! We’ll have music and tune workshops run by Rosie and the Michaels as well as open workshops where Cat Nappers can teach their favourite tune and daily trad sessions. Our Cat Nap Ceilidh was a big hit last year and camp will wrap up with a Cat Nap Camp Concert Thursday afternoon!

Cat Nap Music Camp is located at picturesque Camp Latona. The camp is located at the north end of Gambier Island in the scenic Howe Sound.

Return boat transportation is provided from Porteau Cove on the Sea to Sky Hwy, including Free parking!

French Fiddle Tunes WorkshopsJuly 11, 12 & 14, 2023

The Old Avoca Schoolhouse in Avoca, Nebraska will be streaming three online workshops for soprano recorder players, alto recorder players, fiddlers, violists, cellists, bassists, and mandolinists.  

  • Tuesday, July 11, 7 PM, Central Time,
  • Wednesday, July 12, 10 AM, Central Time,
  • Friday, July 14, 7 PM, Central Time. 

Different tunes will be played at each session. During these workshops, we will play and discuss traditional French bourees, mazurkas, as well as a branle, a farandole, a galop, a schottische, and a tarantella.There is limited enrollment, and pre-registration is required.  The cost for each workshop is $10.00 US.

Are You a Fiddler or have students that are fiddlers? We Want You!…..at our Grand North American Old Time Fiddle Championship happening July 13-16, 2023 at the DOW Centennial Centre in Fort Saskatchewan Alberta

It’s time for fiddle teachers to ready your students to take this next step in musical performance. It’s time to pick your waltz, jig and reel and start getting them into shape for competition. It’s time to mark your calendars and start planning your summer schedule to take in this wonderful weekend of jamming, old time dances, a junior mini-camp, featured entertainment, and of course wonderful musicians of all levels of play in two days  of friendly competition.

Fiddleworks Fiddle Camp! Monday, July 31 to Friday, August 4, 2023

Onsite accommodation: Camping for tents and RVs with access to full bathrooms and camp kitchen. PLUS there are so many Airbnbs and similar in the Kootenay region.

Our new Kootenay camp will feature many of the things you came to love on Salt Spring, a barn dance, random acts of violin, fiddle orchestra, delicious, locally sourced food and of course, fun classes and stellar instructors! PLUS there’s going to be BASEBALL!  Yes, we are combining fiddles with flying balls, it’s going to be a hoot.

Nanaimo Fiddle Camp! Tuesday August 8 to Friday August 11, 2023

Featuring Jennie Bice, Gabriel Dubreuil, J.J. Guy, Gordon Stobbe

Youth and adults alike are welcome to the Nanaimo Fiddle Camp this August! There are classes for every level of playing: all you need is a basic grounding in fiddle technique and a few tunes under your fingers, but advanced players are also encouraged to attend.

Classes will run Tuesday through Friday from 10:00am to 2:30pm with a fabulous Folk Band ensemble class (included in your camp fees) happening DAILY.

Evening events will include a fabulous instructors’ concert, as well as evening family jam session. The week will wrap up with an afternoon concert on Friday.
