Olivia Barrett Music

Olivia Barrett is a fiddler, violinist, educator, and composer based in Victoria, BC. She holds a Bachelor of Music (Memorial University of Newfoundland), a Bachelor of Music Education (UBC), and an M.A. in Irish Traditional Music Performance (University of Limerick). Trained in both classical and traditional styles, Olivia performs, records, and teaches in a variety of music genres. Olivia’s strong roots in traditional Irish, Cape Breton, and Canadian styles are showcased in both her playing and her compositional approaches. As a fiddler, Olivia has performed with and opened for musicians such as WeBanjo3, Alasdair Fraser, and Buffy Ste. Marie. Olivia was selected to represent the Irish World Academy at the 2019 Celtic Connections festival (as a member of the Irish traditional trio Síle), as well as at the 2019 Milwaukee Irish Fest as a soloist. While at home, Olivia teaches fiddlers and violinists in the Victoria area.
